Dear Oakland Strokes Families:=20
For those of you who were watching the Oscars and missed the meeting and =
dinner, on behalf of the Oakland Strokes, I
would like to thank you for your extraordinary generosity. This year we =
raised over $167,000, approximately $148,000 net=20
after returning discounts and Strokes gear. Our auction was a success =
and a great deal of fun, raising =20
approximately $5,000. We still have several donations that we know are =
outstanding and we are approaching 100%=20
donation level. Our outstanding success this year was also due to =
extraordinary donations of $25,000 and $15,000 (from=20
donors who currently wish to remain anonymous). Our fundraising success =
allowed us to make a $25,000
donation to the Community Outreach Program, through which we have =
pledged to recruit and train young people from East=20
Oakland to join the Strokes and learn to row. Our goal is to make =
rowing available to any kid who is willing to work hard=20
from any income level in our community. Our successful fundraising =
also allowed us to substantially improve=20
the safety of our children with two new wakeless launches with new =
motors and several new racing boats, including a new=20
4+ ($18,000). In approximately two weeks or so we will send thank you =
letters to donors and make any needed spring=20
registration refunds to those who in full and qualify for the waiver. =
We will also accept on-line orders for Oakland=20
Strokes gear for those that raised $1000 or more.=20
Meanwhile, for any of you that wish to make that delayed donation, =
please do it soon. Recall that you can donate any time=20
