GO STROKES!! We had a terrific weekend of racing for the Oakland =
Strokes at CJs! Thank you rowers, coaches and parents for making it a =
great success. There were many, many exciting and close races. Four =
Strokes boats qualified for the US Junior National Championship in =
Cincinnati. Novice boats also made a great showing. As a team, Strokes =
women scored third in Team Trophy Points in a field of 18. Strokes men =
scored fourth in a field of 17. Well done!=20
=20
It was especially rewarding to see how the athletes supported each =
other's boats coming down the course and off the water. A couple of =
athletes were overheard congratulating other crews for a job well done. =
Very classy. =20
=20
Our coaches were phenomenal professionals, as always. They spend hours =
and hours with our kids, training them how to be teammates and citizens =
on and off the water. They appear to have taught them to be awesome =
competitors also! We are grateful and admiring.
=20
You parents are no slouches either. We simply cannot do it without the =
chaperones, bus-arrangers, hotel-reservers, bagel-slicers, =
trailer-haulers, Costco-hounds, bbq-queens, latte-carters, =
ticket-dispensers,photo-takers and photo-arrangers. Thank you for all =
the volunteer time you devote to make the Strokes program a success. =20
