1. Message to Varsity Women and their parents from Coach Ian: Due to =
SATs, Saturday practice for Women's Varsity has been re-scheduled to =
Sunday a.m. at 7:00 a.m. Ian informed rowers of this change on Monday. =
He will remind them tomorrow and Friday. If your rower cannot attend, =
she must sign the Absence Book.=20

2. Oakland Strokes to host the HEAD OF THE ESTUARY on October 26, 2008: =
Big News! After several years off, Oakland Strokes is reviving a =
worthy tradition by hosting this 4,200 meter regatta in our very own =
Estuary. Many thanks to Ian Simpson for jump-starting this process. =
Events will include Juniors, Collegiate, Lightweight, and Masters. In =
years past, many of the teams who raced the previous day at Head of the =
American have raced with us the following day. There could be a =
significant number of teams participating. It should be a great deal =
of fun!!!! The Home Regatta Committee (chaired by Katherine =
Farrell) is going to need EXTRA HELP from parents to make this event a =
success. When you get the call or email from her, please say yes! =
Lets show the rowing community we can put on a great event!! =20

3. Mandatory Parent Meeting is Sunday October 12 at 3 p.m. at JLAC. =
Come learn more about Strokes, meet the coaches, hear about upcoming =
events and sign up to fulfill your parent hours. This meeting is for =
parents only. Also, bring your check-books to purchase cool Oakland =
Strokes apparel. Cash or check only, no credit cards. See you there!=20
