registration</span>: Registration and payment for the upcoming Newport regatta
need to be completed by <span style="font-weight: bold;">Wednesday, October
29.</span> There is information on the www.oaklandstrokes.org web
page. Register rowers at Blue Sombrero; parents who are going as
chaperones and parents who are staying at the team hotel pay by check.
We are trying to move away from payment by check, but hadn't mastered the
ability to charge three different prices on Blue Sombrero in time for this
regatta. The amount of work (done completely by parent volunteers) to
collect checks is staggering. We have to collect the
checks,</font></span></font></span><span style="color: darkgreen;"><font size="3"><span style="font-family: geneva,arial,sans-serif;"><font size="2"> track
down parents who don't pay on time,</font></span></font></span><span style="color: darkgreen;"><font size="3"><span style="font-family: geneva,arial,sans-serif;"><font dragover="true" size="2"> and
then our (volunteer) treasurer has to log each check and make deposits. In
order to make Strokes run efficiently, we have to automate wherever we
can. Thanks for your understanding.</font></span></font></span></p>
<p><span style="color: darkgreen;"><font size="3"><span style="font-family: geneva,arial,sans-serif;"><font dragover="true" size="2"><span style="font-weight: bold;">E-mail: </span>As you've
noticed, e-mail is a critical means of communication. We need to be sure
we are reaching every family with day-to-day information as well as unexpected
news, like the closure of the freeway that happened last week. If you've
received this e-mail twice -- once from the OS mailman account and once from
Blue Sombrero -- you don't need to do anything else. If you received it
only once, then you need to make sure your preferred e-mail address(es) are on
BOTH the OS mailman account and the Blue Sombrero list. Why two
lists? The OS mailman account is much broader - it includes some alumni,
board members, outside volunteers, etc., as well as the current team
members. The Blue Sombrero list has only the current teams and we can
send out e-mails to certain teams if we need to, rather than a bulk e-mail to
everyone. Until we're sure everyone is on both lists, we have to keep sending out bulk e-mails on both. <br></font></span></font></span></p>
<p><span style="color: darkgreen;"><font size="3"><span style="font-family: geneva,arial,sans-serif;"><font dragover="true" size="2">If
you're not on the OS mailman list, go to the oaklandstrokes.org page and sign
up, asap. Here's the link:
http://lists.oaklandstrokes.org/mailman/listinfo/os.members. If you're not getting e-mails from Blue Sombrero, log onto your www.bluesombrero.com/oaklandstrokes account and click on the "edit" button next to your name. There you can add or modify e-mail addresses for you, the secondary contact and/or your athlete. <br></font></span></font></span></p>

the www.oaklandstrokes.org site is a lost and found site. This is the
place to post a notice about all those misplaced sweatshirts, phones, etc.,
and to reunite those lost items with their owners.
