Hello all,
Welcome to the new season! I would like to invite any parents who are
interested in joining the OS Travel Committee. There are many jobs
involved in making our travel regattas (Newport, Long Beach, San
Diego, Regionals, Nationals) running smoothly and I would love to have
it divided up into many small, manageable parts this year. If you are
interested in ANY aspect of team travel support, please let me know.
I would love to have a kick-off meeting with anybody who would like to
be involved.
Possible dates: Friday evening, Sept 19th OR Sunday late afternoon,
Sept 21st . PLEASE indicate which date you prefer and I will set it to
whichever one has the most people. Yummy refreshments either way!
Travel Duties include:
* making up a travel flyer for each regatta
* follow-up on parent payment for each regatta
* chaperone coordinator/recruiter
* Head chaperone traveling to each regatta (preferably one per team)
* Someone who is good at Excel spreadsheets to help calculate trip costs
* Bus coordinator (already committed; thanks Rebecca!)
* Rental Van coordinator (San Diego only)
* Airline ticket reservations (San Diego and Nationals only)
* Race Day Food coordinator for each regatta

election coming up on Tuesday=2C November 4. If you are interested in work=
ing at a polling location in Alameda County (mostly Berkeley and Oakland)=
=2C you can raise money for the Oakland Strokes and learn firsthand more ab=
out how the actual voting process works!Return Center Helpers are needed to=
work from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday=2C November 4. Each helper ea=
rns $40 for working that 3 hour shift. Return Center Helpers work as part o=
f a team that receives election supplies--secured bags of completed ballots=

The Oakland Strokes Travel Committee will be meeting on Sunday,
September 21st, at 4:00pm at the home of Susan Ito. ANY parent who is
interested in supporting our team's travel program is encouraged to
attend. We will be planning our various regattas, from Newport Autumn
Rowing Festival in November through Southwest Regionals in May. Each
regatta has its own particular set of jobs and responsibilities, and
we need a team to have them all running smoothly.

Hello Oakland Strokes!
I just wanted to remind folks that we will be convening our first
Travel Committee meeting tomorrow, Sunday the 21st at 4pm, at the Ito-
Roark house. The address is 22 White Court, Oakland and we welcome
ANYone (no experience necessary) who would like to help make this
season smooth and fun for all. We have big jobs, small jobs, one-time
only jobs and no-travel jobs. All parents need to put in 20 volunteer
hours and this is a great way to do it.
Wine will be served! :-)
