MAY 7-10, 2009
The entire Oakland Strokes Men=92s and Women=92s Novice and Varsity =
Teams =20
will be participating in the Southwest Junior Regional Races ("CJs") =20
at Lake Natoma, CA on Saturday, May 9th and Sunday, May 10th. The =20
teams will be traveling by bus to the races on Thursday, May 7th. =20
Individual athletes who need to drive up on Friday because of AP exams =20=
will travel in parent carpools. One bus will return on Sunday the =20
10th, as we expect most parents to attend the race and take their kids =20=
home. We are set for chaperones except still need a few for MEN'S =20
NOVICE: if you can help support Strokes in this way, please contact =20

COST: $360.00 for MEN and $325.00 for WOMEN (price difference due to =20=
differing hotel costs). (This covers bus, 3 nights at the hotel, race =20=
registration fees, cost to trailer the boats to and from Sacramento, =20
coaches=92 expenses, and all food and meals.) The cost is the same for =20=
all athletes, whether they are going on Thursday or Friday.

ALL TEAM/FAMILY DINNER: We will have a Chevy's dinner catered at the =20
racecourse for athletes, coaches, chaperones and families on Saturday =20=
evening. The cost of this dinner is included in the fee for athletes; =20=
there is no charge for chaperones. We invite all Oakland Strokes =20
families (and friends) to join us for this wonderful social event. The =20=
cost is $23/adult, and $15 for children under 12. Tickets for the =20
dinner may be purchased via Brown Paper Tickets at =

TRANSPORTATION: Buses will depart the Jack London Aquatic Center =20
boathouse promptly at 5:30pm on Thursday, May 8th. Rowers should bring =20=
their gear and luggage to practice on Thursday! The team will arrive =20
at their hotels, check in and proceed directly to dinner at the =20
Spaghetti Factory. All rowing and boat moving will happen during the =20=
day Friday. We know there are AP conflicts on Friday, please let =20
your coaches know if your child is taking the US History AP or the AP =20=
Euro AP, these athletes will drive to the race course with parents on =20=
Friday.
Please note, men=92s and women=92s Varsity, JV, 3V are on Saturday, =
along =20
with the light 4+ event. On Sunday for the varsity it is the light 8+ =20=
and the varsity & JV 4+ events. For the Novices, the 4+=92s and frosh =20=
are on Saturday and the Novice A & B 8+=92s are on Sunday. Most rowers =20=
will return home on Sunday with their families, but there are some =20
team vans that will be returning back to JLAC Sunday evening, leaving =20=

WHAT TO BRING: Water bottle, sun block, hat, team uniform, sunglasses =20=
and snacks. All teams will be at the course rigging/practicing on =20
Friday. The days usually start off cool, so bring clothing that you =20
can layer on or off such as an extra sweatshirt and an extra set of =20
rowing gear in case you get wet.
FOOD AND BEVERAGES: Your fees include the cost of a light breakfast =20
on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and lunch (sandwiches, fruit, bagels, =20
