LONG BEACH JUNIOR REGATTA
TRAVEL INFORMATION
APRIL 16 - APRIL 19, 2009

The entire Oakland Strokes Men=E2=80=99s and Women=E2=80=99s Novice and =
Varsity =20
Teams will be participating in the Long Beach Junior Regatta in Long =20
Beach, CA on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19.  The teams will =20=

be traveling by bus to and from Long Beach.  We have a group of parent =20=

chaperones accompanying the team.

There are a limited number of additional rooms for parents available =20
at group rate of $125.00 per night. Contact =

RESERVATION AND PAYMENT DUE NOW=E2=80=94  please cooperate by paying =
promptly.

COST:  $360.00 (This covers the bus, 3 nights at hotel, race =20
registration fees, cost to trailer the boats to and from Long Beach, =20
coaches=E2=80=99 expenses, and most food.)

TRANSPORTATION:  Buses will load at 5:30pm and depart the Jack London =20=

Aquatic Center boathouse promptly at 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 16th. =20=

There is no practice that day. The team should arrive at the boathouse =20=

by 5:15pm with their luggage and ready to travel.
They will stop for dinner (bring spending $$) and arrive to the hotel =20=

late Thursday night. The teams will be returning from Long Beach by =20
bus and are expected to arrive back at the boathouse around 10:00 pm =20
on Sunday. All rowers are expected to ride the bus both ways.

WHAT TO BRING:  Water bottle, sun block, hat, team uniform, sunglasses =20=

and snacks, sleeping clothes, toiletries. Rowers should bring money =20
for Thursday and Sunday dinners on the road. Official regatta T-shirts =20=

will be available for $17 each, so bring $ if you want to buy one. If =20=

you are going to bring your own pillow, make sure you have a brightly-=20=

colored pillowcase so that it doesn't "blend in" with hotel linens! =20
All teams will be at the course rigging/practicing on Friday. The days =20=

usually start off cool, so bring clothing that you can layer on or off =20=

such as an extra sweatshirt and an extra set of rowing gear in case =20
you get wet.  Label everything!!

FOOD AND BEVERAGES:  Your fees include the cost of a light breakfast =20
on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and lunch (sandwiches, fruit, bagels, =20
snacks, juices, etc.) on Saturday and Sunday at the Oakland Strokes =20
hospitality tent, as well as a pasta dinner Friday night and BBQ at =20
the course on Saturday. Team members will need to bring spending money =20=

for dinner on the road Thursday and Sunday evenings.
