The boat lineups for the womens' team have been finalized, and Ian has =20=

traveling group. I expect that Ivan will be doing the same in the next =20=

APRIL 2-5, 2009

Select members of the Oakland Strokes Varsity Teams will be =20
participating in the San Diego Crew Classic in San Diego, CA on =20
Saturday, April 4th and Sunday, April 5th.  The teams will be =20
traveling by airplane to and from San Diego, leaving on Thursday, =20
April 2nd  and returning on Sunday, April 5th.  There will be 6 =20
chaperones accompanying the team, one for each boat (WV, WJV, WLt, MV, =20=

MJV and MLt).

Non-chaperoning parents who wish to book a hotel room at the Oakland =20
Strokes group rate ($145) should contact Susan Ito, Travel =20
Coordinator, at oaklandstrokestravel@gmail.com. There are only a =20
handful of these rooms available.

  RESERVATION AND PAYMENT DUE NOW. please cooperate by paying promptly.

COST:  $575.00 + processing fee (This covers plane fare, hotel, =20
registration fees, cost to trailer the boats to and from San Diego, =20
coaches=92 expenses, and race day food. It does NOT include breakfasts =20=

or dinners, which the athletes will be purchasing on their own, along =20=

with chaperones.)

TRANSPORTATION:  The team will travel via Southwest Airlines, flight =20
#2970 from Oakland (5:30pm departure). Please have your rower at the =20
Oakland Airport, Southwest Terminal, at 4:00pm on Thursday, April 2nd. =20=

In San Diego, they will be driven by parent chaperones in 15-seat =20
rented vans. They will return via SW flight #131 on Sunday, April 5th. =20=

It is scheduled to return at 7:00pm but check via phone or website to =20=

confirm. Please pick your rower up promptly at the airport.

All rowers and coxswains will travel in individual "boat groups" =20
throughout the weekend, driven in 15- passenger vans by a designated =20
chaperone.

WHAT TO BRING:  Water bottle, sun block, hat, sunglasses and snacks.  =20=

All teams will be at the course rigging/practicing on Friday. The days =20=

usually start off cool, so bring clothing that you can layer on or off =20=

such as an extra sweatshirt and an extra set of rowing gear in case =20
you get wet.

FOOD AND BEVERAGES:  Your fees include the cost of nutritious race-day =20=

food on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (fruit, bagels, snacks, juices, =20
etc.) at the racecourse. Rowers/coxswains should bring spending money =20=

for their breakfasts and dinners. Chaperones will accompany the rowers =20=

(grouped by boat) to all meals but rowers will need to pay for their =20
food (except for race course food).
